In another desperate attempt to seek relevance and position himself to feed from the crumbs falling from Monday Okpebholo’s stable, John Mayaki, a notorious traducer and media hack, has once again resorted to spewing a cocktail of fiction and falsehoods, desperately trying to force-feed the public a deceptive, phony image of Okpebholo as the messiah of good governance, while shamelessly denigrating the outstanding legacy of His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
In the delusional commentary, which was a clear reflection of his warped thinking, Mayaki lowered the bar of commonsense, scribbling lies, and mistruths to tarnish Obaseki’s image while masking the harsh reality in Edo State under the rudderless and incompetent government of Monday Okpebholo.
It is saddening and quite disappointing that Mayaki would compare Obaseki’s sterling performance across various sectors of the State’s economy which improved the lives of the people and brought prosperity to the State in the last eight years, to Okpebholo’s six months of chaos and retrogression; a government whose only claim to performance is on jaundiced press statements and photo ops of projects of his predecessor or those of the federal government in the State.
Or will Mayaki say he is not aware of the unprecedented distress and hardship that the people of Edo State have been put through in these past few months?
Is Mayaki not aware of the unavoidable, multidimensional suffering that the people of Edo State have had to undergo during this period?
We are however not bothered by the empty scribbling of Mayaki which are mere wishful thinking, as he is well known to make up alternate truth as he goes along depending on how much of his personal interest is being served at the time.
His effortless lies are so detached from reality that even Okpebholo himself, with all his confusion and incoherence, would not be convinced by such theatrical performances.
We want to again urge Mayaki end his obsession with Obaseki and focus on canvassing for good governance in Edo State. Obaseki has served meritoriously in the eight years that he held sway and left and indelible legacy which cannot be erased or blemished no matter how hard he tries.
Instead of resorting to lies and propaganda in a desperate attempt to deceive the people about the non-existent achievements and performance of Okpebholo, he should direct that effort toward urging the governor to develop and implement a plan for the security, development, and prosperity of the State.
